ABOUT THE ARTIST

Richard Schepper, a native New Yorker, first studied art at the High School of Music and Art. He went on to attend Pratt Institute where he majored in photography and cinematography. During his junior year, the ad agency Young & Rubicam was so impressed with his portfolio, he was offered an internship. He stayed on to become an award winning TV and Print Art Director. One of the many awards he received was the Cannes Film Festival Award for his Ocean Spray TV commercial.

During the Seventies and Eighties Richard's work expanded to include painting and sculpture. His work was shown in numerous Soho galleries. For the past twenty years he has also been involved with photography. His Photographs have been exhibited in several galleries and can be found in many private collections.

A long time active environmentalist, Richard shares his photographic work with others hoping to trigger the same love and respect for nature that he has. There are special places in nature that evoke feelings much different than the urban or suburban vistas we've all become accustomed to. These places have a healing effect on us. They have a calming, soothing affect on our psyche that generates peace and well-being. This is why so many of us take our vacations in the country. It is hoped that more and more people will recognize the intrinsic value and the healing effects of nature. Wild places are a precious part of our lives. They should be protected and saved as such, for generations to come.
